Directions:
From Cambridge onto the A14, north bound, head towards Bar Hill, turn
left to go over the motorway bridge, "at Bar Hill" head towards
Longstanton to the T junction, turn left towards Willingham, over old
level crossing, then follow road right through Willingham, the road
then bends to your right, follow road to river, the road then runs
parallel to the river on your right, at the end of this road, turn
right over the first set of locks, then turn left for 100yds to second
set of locks "this small stretch of road is liable to flooding in the
winter season", go over the locks, about 25yds, turn right into Bridge
End, follow main road to Cooks Drove to the T junction, turn right into
Meadow Drove, about 300yds on your right is Earith Business Park, turn
right and stop, iron gates should be in front of you, park to one side
so you do not block any vehicles that may use this gate, eg.
Environment Agency.
Lock your vehicle! Walk through the gates and turn left where fishing
is best at about 100yrds up stream, caution!, be careful of high banks
when grass is wet, "we don't want anybody falling in the water now do
we".
Fishing is best in the summer season when the high banks are dry.
This long stretch of water is the beginning of the Old Bedford. It
starts roughly from the second set of locks, to the farmers old iron
bridge, this stretch is called the Jolly Bankers A section, The
Cambridge Albion Angling Society have the fishing rights on both banks,
but we mainly fish Earith side only, as the other side is a bit
difficult to get there, and the parking is a bit difficult as well.
