Sutton Gault to Jolly Bankers

Directions:
From Cambridge, take the A10 towards Ely to Stretham Round-about, turn
Left to Wilburton, follow road through Wilburton, past church on left,
up hill passed landscape scenery on left, follow road round to your right
passed water tower, follow through to cross road, turn right, follow
road down hill and up the next hill for about half mile to T junction,
CAUTION FAST ROAD, turn left to small rounder-about, bear left toward
Sutton, follow road right through to T junction, turn right,1/4 mile,
turn right to Sutton Gault, this is a very small road, if you blink
once you have just missed it, its just before you start going down the
hill, if you are going down the hill you have missed it!!!.
When you finally found the road, follow through to first bridge, Pub on
your left, over first bridge, "Tidal water", to second bridge, STOP. You
can park around the bridge area.
Club waters are sign posted both sides of bridge, if you look to the left
of the bridge, as you approach, the fishing rights go up as far as Jolly
Bankers, and Earith, from Sutton Gault, were you are standing, to the
farmers iron bridge is Jolly Bankers B section, in extreme dry weather
it is possible to drive to the jolly bankers by vehicle, BUT, be Warned,
there are deep ruts and muddy conditions, during the winter months this
stretch of water is liable to flooding and tracks get very soft.
To get to the Jolly Bankers by car, in the summer season only, when the
ground is dry, it is possible to drive down parallel with the river on
your right hand side as you approach the water, just follow the track,
but be careful of deep ruts, just follow the track and keep parallel to
the river, "Drive carefully and slowly". When you arrive
at the wooded area, bear left, follow track then bear right to the river,
follow the river once again until you arrive at the old iron bridge.
Before fishing the Old Bedford it is best to contact the local fishing
Tackle shops in Cambridge, F.J.Farrington or S.Cooper and Sons.
